But here’s the thing: the modern perm is not the perm you remember from the 80s.
As part of our recent move into our new salon at 53 High Street, Shaftesbury, SP7 8JE, we’ve been documenting the whole journey, from closing the doors at our old location to getting the new space ready to welcome you.
And while we’ve been unpacking boxes and reminiscing over old photos, we thought it was the perfect time to bust a few perm myths…
Myth #1: “Perms always mean tight, frizzy curls.”
Not anymore!
Modern perm techniques can create a much wider range of results, from soft waves and natural-looking movement to more defined curls. The finished look depends on your hair, the technique used and the result you’re hoping to achieve.
Myth #2: “A perm will give everyone the same result.”
Definitely not.
Your hair’s length, texture, condition and previous colour or chemical treatments all need to be considered. That’s why a consultation is so important before deciding whether a perm is suitable for you.
Myth #3: “Perms are just for creating curls.”
Think again.
A modern perm can be about texture, volume, movement and enhancing your natural-looking shape – not simply turning straight hair into a head full of curls.
